Mars runs as an active service agent, and is launched only by hm.

Description

The MASH ARchive Server (MARS) is an active service agent which can play audio, video and mediaboard streams. The client application, rover, is used to contact the server, request playback and control the playback session. The SSAC (soft state archive control) protocol is used between the client and server, in addition to AS1 protocols. For an overview of MASH archival, see the archive tools description.
