Well, kinda. Only the version from late 1998 is on www.openmash.org,
and for that you have to go to the old MASH web site.

Naturally, I would like to use MASH on something different
from your list -- a Sun SPARC Ultra -- but we might be using it on
NT machines as well.

Not compiling cleanly I can handle for the Suns, but I was hoping that some
of the basic stuff, like getting import to work properly was looked at.
I sent a bug report to the openmash list a while back, I was kind of hoping
that it was corrected at some point. Also, the mash-1/tcl code seems to
be very much out of sync with the current code available by http. It would
be helpful to have all that togther so a potential programmer didn't have
to download the various pieces.

So, not wanting to complain all the time, how about putting the stuff you've
got so far out as an "alpha" on the openmash web site with appropriate cautions
about it being unstable and etc?

From my current perspective, it would be a great help if a couple more
simple examples were included in the code. I recognize this is one of
those chicken and egg problems: if you know enough to work with the code
the simple examples are trivial; if not it takes a while and interest
goes elsewhere toward getting more "done". Also, I found that if you
haven't worked with the object TCL that it takes a while to understand
the various mechanisms. I would suggest that a tutorial similar to
the one that is currently on the web for Object TCL would spark a lot
more interest, especially since the other one (from MIT I believe) is
mainly oriented toward toasting bagels. ;-)

Thanks,
Greg
