I'll assume that you'll be creating new tcl8.4 and tk8.4 directories that
developers can optionally use. Though I've used 8.4 for some time and
haven't had too many problems, but I'm one of the well behaved ones I
guess. Merging into the current tree will just slow things down, and I'm
not very sure what to expect as far as these changes will affect mash.

I noticed that a lot of the bug fixes have been back ported to 8.3, is
someone already merging these changes? It seems that the tcl tree in mash
is at 8.3.3 and could be upgraded to 8.3.4 that was released in October.
8.3.4 is more recent than the latest development release 8.4a3 released
in August.

I'm game as long as we're not in a rush. I wouldn't call myself an expert
on the tcl/tk source, but I have hacked the code from time to time and I
wrote the Inline::Tcl module for perl. I think a few people could work on
this, it just takes one person to merge and a few others to test.
