It's difficult for me to look at stuff like this on the weekends, so it
waited until today.  I ran autoconf and generated a fresh configure.

I think the person who broke it knows by now why/how he broke it.  It's
understandable.  It could happen to anyone.  Just try to be careful
when you're changing configure, especially if your own directories
aren't in synch with the CVS repository.
