PWD is not set in shell scripts unless necessary.

configure will look for cc if it does not find gcc.

The conf/mkdep and conf/mkdep.tcl scripts accept an argument to specify the
correct C++ compiler to use.

Added compile-time support for Mac OS X + XFree86 4.2.0. Some warnings will
be output during the build process. No video capture or audio support.
