Mash 5.1.6 -- "Back to the basics"
The most visible change in Mash 5.1.6 is the long-announced reduction
in the number of tools distributed to end users. Unfortunately, we
don't have unlimited resources so we can't support dozens of tools.
However, Mash is open source and we'd be glad to help anyone who wants
to help us.
Although fewer tools are supported, Mash 5.1.6 is a small step forward
in stability and capability.
Andrew Swan has updated the JPEG code so it can handle large images
(1024 x 768 and larger). He has also overhauled the way vic sizes its
windows. The old scheme has been replaced by a much more rational
scheme based on the actual image size. This change is very welcome.
Matt Delco has added DirectX and DirectDraw support for the Windows
version. Wesley Miaw has improved vic's ability to cope with large
numbers of participants by upgrading its multi-column support and by
adding scrollbars.
And, of course, there were a few bug fixes.
